wtf is wrong with cartoon network

I remember cartoon network had shows like Johnny Bravo, Cow and Chicken, Courage the Cowardly Dog, I am Weasel, Dexter's Lab, and a whole bunch more. But no, they had to take aalllll their good stuff off for a whole bunch of crap. There's Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends, Ben 10...My Gym Partner's a Monkey? Wtf? The only cartoon cartoon they kept really was Ed, Edd,'n Eddy (which is an awesome show).
You know how some of our older brothers or sisters, even parents, say things like "oh yea, remember the Smurfs, Carebears, Flintstones, Jetsons and all that? Man those were great shows" That's like us right now with some of these cartoons. Can you imagine how screwed up the next generation'll be? "Hey guys, remember shows like My Gym Partner's a monkey, My dad's a rock star, Foster's home for imaginary friends, and Fairly odd parents?" Holy crap, they're gonna get jumped a lot.

Sorry if i'm over reacting, but don't you guys remember a time when cartoons made you laugh, not wanna put an axe through the tv?

reply

Yeah, I do remember those times. All of the once good stations have all gone to hell, and there is nothing we can do. Life sure sucks!

THANK YOU SANTAMASTER33 I COULDN'T HAVE PUT IT BETTER MYSELF. I think that CartoonNetwork is going nuts. Thats why they came out with pieces of sh!t like My Gym Parthners A Monkey, Hi Hi Puffy AMi Yumi,Ben 10, Robot Boy, and that horrible new version of Fridays. I loved Cartoon Cartoon Friday, now its just Friday and has terrible shows. They think thats going to save them, but its just stupid and pointless. Why doesnt CartoonNetwork just bring back the old good shows like What Ever Happened to Robot Jones?, Courage the Cowardly Dog(MY FAVORITE!), Johnny Bravo, Power Puff Girls, Cow and Chicken,Ed, Ed, and Eddy ( the old ones the new ones arent as good, they're not bad but they're dont great either). More people will watch it but nooooooooo. Theyre sooooooooo cheap they cant even bring out the old good shows on dvd. Its sad to see what happens over time.

Hey, Fairly Oddparents is funny.

But yeah... let's see...

Animaniacs
Freakazoid
Pinky and the Brain
Johnny Bravo
Courage the Cowardly Dog
Cow and Chicken
I am Weasal
Dexter's Lab
Ren and Stimpy
Rocko's Modern Life
Ed, Edd, 'n Eddy (it's still on but the reruns are beginning to get old) EDIT: Sorry, that wasn't complete, the reruns are getting old AND the newer ones suck.

... *sigh* Now the only cartoons on that I enjoy are Fairly Oddparents, The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Family Guy, Futurama and actually, Ben 10 isn't that bad, not great, but not bad.

Actually, thinking about it, Code: Lyoko and Xiaolin Showdown aren't that bad either.

Adult Swim used to be funny, but now their starting to suck too, with crap like Squidbillies, that retarted mouse thing, Tom goes to the Mayor, and countless other idiotic shows.

(anime was not counted in this)

reply

I think the fairly oddparents is kind of annoying now...they made everyone, even the parents retarded! The only smart one in that show is AJ the bald kid!
It is getting kind of boring too, and Timmy always talks to himself...

I do not know what's wrong with TV these days. It makes me mad!

The Fairly Oddparents is'nt funny anymore. I was excited when it came out because I had seen the actual pilot episoide for it but now all they do is repeat jokes over and over. Ren and Stimpy was amazing, Courage was amazing, Dexters Lab got all retarded in the final seasons with charactor makeovers. I miss The Rugrats. Now they just have this preteen All Grown Up sh!t. Cartoon Network and Nick are just targeting certin people for certin shows instead of targeting everybody for every show.

reply

lol, i'm guessing all preteens love stupid shows then

reply

I completely and 100% agree with the first post. I used to have Cartoon Network on all the time, now it's just... meh...

reply

i used to think were older and dont like any cartoons anymore, just the ones we used to watch. but its true, cartoon network sucks now. every cartoon i watch is stupidly random or idiotic. there are no good shows. they even show non animatred movies, and pg 13 movies, like ace ventura. i dont think thats appropiate for the 5 year olds that watch this show.

reply

Its not only CN nick and disney channel are also beginning to suck theyre playing tv shows with the most retarded humor to the point where its not even funny anymore. With all the older shows, there was actually a reason for laughing...

Yeah I use to LOVEEEEE allt hose shows, especially Courage was the BEST XD

but they kids of today thinkt he new shows ARE funny & that's the only thing that matetrs, we may think they r stupid but ti doesn't matter cuz we are not the networks' target audience if the 8 yr old boy thinks Camp Lazlo, & the Gym PArtner monkey show whatever is funny then let it be, ur not a kid nemore lol.

btw, I'm 16 almost 17.

Cartoon Network started it's decline into suckiness when they started the new Cartoon Cartoon Fridays, and got that black chick and the fat guy to host. They made it suck.

Man, it was awesome when they had a different cartoon host every week. That was so freakin sweet.

Dexter's Lab
Batman
Johnny Bravo
I Am Weasel
Pinky and the Brain/Animaniacs (I think these were Nickelodean)
Freakazoid (Definately)
Tom and Jerry

Dexter's Lab was my favorite cartoon. Definately.
The Speed Racer parody episode of Dexter's Lab was freakin funny. I still laugh at the jokes in that episode.

Also, Doom sucked.

Chowder.

Here's what I would do, recycle ideas. Wait 20 years or so, and then repeat plots, characters, stuff like that. You know, the same way they already do it for commercials. Open suggestions to the public, but judge it too, and base on votes. And most importantly, stop ruining Christmas with "Da Nite B4 Christmas", once is enough. Maybe thats just me though, I dont hate all rap, but I like rock and 80s rock better.

reply

Cartoon Network use to have all good shows.

Shows like...
-Ed, Edd n Eddy
-Johnny Bravo
-Dexter's Laboratory (the episodes from the 90s were cooler)
-Courage the Cowardly Dog
-Space Ghost Coast to Coast
-Scooby Doo cartoons (too many to name)
-The Flintstones
-Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2003). Hey, that show is pretty cool. Too bad it didn't last long on Cartoon Network.

Now Cartoon Network only has these [beep]ty shows like...
-The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy
-Code Name: Kids Next Door
-My Gym Partner's a Monkey
-Chowder

I thought to myself, "Geez! Where the [beep] do they come up with this [beep]? Cartoon Network, what the [beep]? You use to have such cool shows and now you only have these gay (as in corny, stupid, idiotic, whatever) shows that some would consider retarted and mind rotting." Then again, a lot of people probably thought that about shows I watched as a kid. At least Family Guy and American Dad are on Adult Swim. They're the only shows worth my time.

Nickelodeon use to have cool shows like...
-Doug
-Ren & Stimpy
-Hey Arnold
-Rocket Power
-Rugrats. It was ok, I guess
-Spongebob Squarepants. I guess this show's ok too.
-All That. The earlier episodes were well worth it compared to the newer episodes.

Like Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon now only has these stupid gay shows like....
-Fairly Odd Parents
-Drake and Josh
-Zoey 101

TV shows I knew as a kid are a lot better than those *beep* factories that are on nowadays.

This discussion reminds me of a similar discussion I was involved in regarding MTV and VH1 and how they were back in the 1990s compared to how MTV and VH1 are now.

Think about it:

MTV and VH1 in the 90s....
-Beavis and Butthead (MTV)
-The Head (MTV
-almost nothing but music videos (both MTV and VH1)

MTV and VH1 in the 00s....
-Basically nothing but those [beep]ty reality/dating shows that basically all end in the same way.....TO GO ON A [beep]ING DATE! I said that in one of my rant blogs on MySpace.
-Music videos (if aired) are only on at like 3:00, 4:00 even 5:00 in the morning. I would count MTV's TRL but they only show 30 second clips of the video or they just say what the video is wthout actually showing it. A lot of us think "WHAT A [beep]ING RIP OFF!"

on a kind-of side note, Johnny Braqvo is airing every day at 2 in the afternoon. Bad time slot, though. I'm working but i tivo it because, well, the show is awesome!

Cartoon Network, IMO, was the last great haven for pure unadulterated programming. Basically, it was the "last" specialty channel to "sell out". Nick and Disney Channel were two of the first, as far as children's programming was concerned. The first channels, were probably MTV(the first, actually), and VH1(which held out a good chunk within the 90s, then became totally Reality TV focused).

And yeah, Fairly Odd Parents is crap. It's probably one of the worst shows on Nick(though I haven't watched Nick in a while, so I don't know how much they spam this toon like they did years ago, or how much they still air it). Fanboy and Chum Chum(the newest Nick venture) is pretty much a shining example of how Nick, which was once a haven for children's programming, has fallen so low into the pit of idiocy.

CN, has recently(well, in the past couple of years) became obviously un-Cartoon Network in it's state of being. The original motto was "All cartoons, all the time!". Slowly this golden rule has been paved over by airing non-cartoon movies, and as of last year, CHILDREN REALITY SHOWS!! Reality programming is the bane to everything in the world. It's what killed MTV and VH1, and it's what shook up normal network stations. It's the deathblow to CN, as well.

Sadly, now, if you want a taste of all those channels former spirit of glory, you have to pay extra of additional channels, because you won't find music videos on MTV anymore. You have to purchase MTV2, or VH1 Classic. To view classic cartoons, you have to purchase Boomerang, and to see Doug and Rugrats, you have to buy NickToons Network. So sad.

reply

.........Not even the additional channels anymore!!!! Toon Disney (where shows like Recess, Pepper Ann, Goof Troop, Duck Tales, Aladdin series, etc could be seen ) is now completely gone & now only has action/sports oriented shows. Nick Toons Network doesn't even show the oldies anymore. Once in a blue moon they'll bring one back for a few months, but then its gone again. Most of what they show there now is Spongebob, Fairly Oddparents, & any of their newer shows from the past 5 years or so til now. I guess the only one thats staying true to itself and ONLY showing old stuff is Boomerang, where Dexter, Courage, Johnny, Cow&Chicken can be found in that order on Saturday nights, but I usually miss that cause, well its Saturday night! but i think they also do that on Sundays. Powerpuff Girls gets shown on weekday nights along with Courage & Dexter.

Don't read this

You're just nostalgic. I tried watching Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends, I did. I just couldn't get myself to like it. Then again, I was like...11 or 12 when it came out.
Though, I totally miss Cartoon Cartoon Fridays with Dexter's Lab, Courage, and the Powerpuff Girls. Boo. But, oh God, I HATED I Am Weasel! That show was horrible!
I'm happy they added all those shows to the Boomerange Channel though.

reply

All shows suck now.

The Hub has a few shows too like Jem, GI Joe, and Transformers (All the classic versions) as well as other Sunbow shows like Conan The Adventurer.

Try not to take life too seriously, no one gets out alive.

reply

Cartoon network (& the sy-fy channel) love putting great shows on their channels, so that they can cancel them if they turn out to be great, & deny every other channel the chance to have those shows at the same time.

IF I want your opinion, I'll GIVE it to you.

reply

The same shows can't play forever. Writers, producers, directors, actors, and animators don't want to spend there whole life on one project.

Also you may say the cartoons today are crap but I'm sure people who are older than you would say the same about the shows you liked. Me personally I think cow and chicken and I am Weasel are abominations to television that talk down to kids and reduced once good cartoon entertainment to toilet humor. I do love some episodes of johnny bravo and Courage tho.

Some of those I have not heard of before. I will have to try to watch them.
