Isaac and Bois Guilbert in the courtyard

Obviously, Bois-Guilbert allows Isaac to escape but why doesn't he tell Rebecca that he's seen him? Bois-Guilbert knows that Isaac will go find her a champion and if he hasn't already guessed that it's Ivanhoe, he gets filled in later. Does he not tell Rebecca because he expects Ivanhoe will get assassinated on the road? Is he still thinking, at that point, that Rebecca will run away with him? Does he doubt Isaac's ability to make it to Ivanhoe on time, even though John seems to know otherwise? It also begs the question of whether Brian knew that Isaac was locked up in Templestowe

In my opinion Bois-Guilbert didn't know anything about the assassins sent to kill Ivanhoe an the road. Malvoisin knew, surely, but did he tell B-G? I think he did not. About the escape of Isaac: B-G hesitated first, as if he was not sure about what to with Isaac already mounted to flee. I think he let him go for two reasons: When Isaac finds Ivanhoe then he will be given the chance to restore his honour (remember the tournament when Ivanhoe sent back both B-G's armour & horse and the ransom?). And perhaps he is already thinking of sacrifying himself for Rebecca? For there will be no hope for Rebecca if she fails to gain a champion - and I think you are right and he still hopes to escape with her when she would think there is no hope for her anymore. Anyway his situation is quite a desparate and hopeless one and I would not change places with him either!
