Please, DVD info

Hi, I'm interested in buying the DVD Box Set Reg.1 of "Ivanhoe", but could anyone who has got the DVD give me more informations about subtitles? I mean, here in Europe we're not able to see Closed Caption subtitles and in many sites I haven't found enough informations about them (if there are subs and if these are CC). Thanks so much.

Since you say "here in Europe", don't you mean region 2?

I have the US released version of the DVD and subtitles are not included on it. I tried on both the DVD and just the TV to try and bring them up, and neither one did.

I enjoy having the subtitles on these kinds of movies because I feel I miss some just by listening to it. So I was a little disappointed that I wasn't able to "read along" while watching this.

Still a great movie, though. I highly recommend it.

I agree about the subtitles, but that may be because I'm so used to everything being subtitled here in Norway that I even choose English subtitles for English speaking movies, if there aren't any Norwegian ones available.

I recently bought the Ivanhoe mini series with Norwegian, Danish, Swedish and Finnish subtitles. The quality is just so-so, with such annoying mistranslations as "wordless" instead of "worldly". And, as I have found to be the case of many films recently, the Norwegian subtitles are just a "Norwegianization" of the Danish subtitles, which makes the exact same mistakes.

(In Das Boot (the whole mini-series) I discovered that the Norwegian subtitles were simply a crude translation of the English subtitles (which were themselves totally inadequate), and therefore had to rely on Swedish and Danish subtitles to get some amount of quality.)

Some subtitlers are worse than others, but fortunately I don't actually need the subtitles if I'm watching an English speaking movie. Like you said, it's comfortable to "read along" as I'm watching.

Does the DVD version have anything different from the series as it was released on VHS? Does it include additional extras, interviews, etc.?

The DVD has the biography of Sir Walter Scott, and no subtitles.

I bought my DVD in am... uk, has no extras (okey: only behind the scenes pic gallery and filmographies) and only English for the deaf subtitles.
