Does this film hold true to the book, or does it disappoint?

I loved the book. I was wondering how those of you who also read the book found the movie to be in comparison, in order to determine whether the movie's even worth looking into. Did you have a lot of complaints, or was the film a decent adaption that kept what needed to be kept in the storyline?

I loved the book too, and for a movie adaptation, its actually quite good! I wasn't disappointed, though I still think the book was better.

As with most book to film adapations there are always a few if not many disappointments but with this movie there are only a few a great adaptation and I was so engrossed in the movie I forgot I had read the book and waited with bated breath for the end.

Of all the things I've loved and lost I think I miss my mind the most

This is SO going to have spoilers in it lol. Did you ever end up seeing the movie?

I'm watching it now online from a link someone posted and I have to say it started out good. The differences between the movie and book I could see were reasonable, used to spell out what was given in the book as a thought inside someone's head or otherwise wasn't conveyable via dialogue. Or in the case of the Asian man at the gas station, censorship, heh.

However, I am really disappointed with the chase scene after the gas station. They've brought in, so far, three new characters and I for the life of me don't know why. It's like they are trying to give you too much info about Ariel too soon so they created these new people and it's just not flowing as good as the book. So I am wondering what other big changes there will be.

He's also way to affectionate with the dogs and they're NOT dobermans which is just like... what, the, heck? Oh, and there was no moose but wolves instead? What is up with that? I mean, I guess I never did fully understand the significance of the moose in the first place but it makes even less sense to have wolves instead.

And I think it's going to scar me for life to see Dr. Cox as this freak...

Oh and his reasons for going to the Templeton house were different as well as the bits about Laura's brother... that kinda bothers me...

It was one of the better Dean Koontz movie adaptations, but that's not saying much. It's a disappointment, definitely.
