On the contrary, I never cared much about Kate or got her appeal until I saw her recently in this movie. She's a natural beauty here, and so good as an actress. The best Emma I could imagine.

She wasn't ugly at all in this. It's nice to know, however, that you will hate people and feel justified in doing it just because you find a them ugly. Wow -- that's just AWFUL.

She has had so much work done that I didn't even realise it was her until I came here to see the rating of this movie on here. Wow cheek implants, forehead and eyebrow lift, nose job, botox, breast implant, veneers on her teeth, fake tan. She must have thought she looked ugly to have done all of that to herself after this movie. For that fact alone I agree with the original poster.

I thought she was lovely, in a 1950s way, no blemishes at all.

Get ready for a whole lot of hate, infatuated11. Beckinsale did look different (though not in an ugly-looking way) then what I'm used to seeing in Underworld, Serendipity, etc. when I first started watching Emma. But as the movie rolled along I began to see the Kate I've known and loved for years. She's just so young and British in this film. And oh those freckles on her nose are just adorable!! I think she has aged really well cause she was still looking great in the remake of Total Recall.

The hair style was not flattering at all. Emma was not supposed to be a great beauty. She was attractive and had fine clothes. Harriet and Jane were supposed to be the prettier ones.
