Mark Paul Gosselaar's character rules

He elevates this whole thing from complete mediocrity - one of the rare occasions wherein you really understand why the popular guy in the movie-school is so... popular. charismatic, sly, and fully aware of the rather large piece of crap he's in, it really does show the guy's a real actor. Being the most famous face from the super-goofy 90's kid-com "Saved by the Bell", it's a testament to his performance here that the first time I saw it, I was totally unaware that it was the same guy. It's a shame he didn't go on to bigger and better things; this role has all the makings of a real star turn. I guess the fairly dismal box office sealed his fate as appearing in shows on TMT or appearing as side characters in CSI.

I don't buy their immediate friendship though - Mark literally walks through the door, wakes up his sleeping roommate, and starts a party, the next scene they're best buds, pouring water into each other's mouths and whatever. I'm pretty positive there was a lot of scenes cut out; probably at the behest of those test screenings that couldn't have done well.
