Joey in season 5

Up until now, I couldn't stand Joey. It seems though that in season 5, she's a thousand times more bearable and likable. Does anyone else think this or is it just me?

She had a pretty big personality shift somewhere in the middle. She went from a tomboy who communicated through sarcasm to a meek girl who hated hurting others' feelings.

I pretty much hated her throughout the show. In season 5 I remember being just bored with her until she snapped at Jen for daring to date Dawson then I went back to despising her. She got way too much focus in the college years.

I read somewhere else on this board that even though Dawson is supposed to be the lead, he becomes more of a side note in the college years. I got to the episode where Joey gets mugged and skipped it. As I said in my post, i do find her more likable, but at the same time Pacey and Jen and all of the others are who make the show for me. She irritates me overall lol. I don't get why everyone fawns over her and thinks she's so extraordinary.

Lol your last sentence sums up my issue with her character. They could at least show why everyone loves her instead of just beating us over the head with that concept. I never watched the mugging episode either it just seems so ridiculous and cheesy. Yeah the shift begins in season 3 somewhat and by season 5 it's definitely Joey's Creek. Jen and Pacey are amazing. I think you nailed it when you said they tried to make Joey seem tough but she came across as a massive bitch.

So. Much. This. Joey and Rory Gilmore are two characters who are clearly supposed to be absolutely amazing. Every girl is supposed to want to be her and every guy will love her forever. I don't see why for either character, though.

She was horrible to Jen from the very beginning. I think the writers were trying to endear her to the audience by making her look really tough or something, but she just came off as a bitch. Jen was nothing but sweet to her at the beginning, and she was still just toxic. Just because Dawson liked Jen and not her.

Well, they basically took away her personality by Season 5, making it hard to either like or dislike her.

My problem with Joey in Season 5 is that they gave her much more focus. This show became Joey's creek (also having to do with James basically being bored of his own show). I can handle more Joey screen time. However once making Joey the primary focus could you at least have given her more interesting storylines? Her storylines were unbearable/boring:

- Joey's Potter's scholastic adventures (NOBODY CARES)
- Her fling with her teacher (been there/done that). I liked Ken Marino but Wilder was a bad character.
- Joey the musician (oh god did anyone like this crap?)
- Her fling with Charlie. I also can't stand CMM and the Charlie character. He overstayed his welcome by like 8 episodes.
- Her two second thing with the George McFly looking guy
- The Joey Audrey dorm room debacles got old after a while

Season 5 is my least favorite Season. But Dawson, Jack, and Pacey had better storylines this year.
