Who painted the 'Edgar Deacon painting' shown in Film One?

In Film One, we see a massive pre-Raphaelite painting supposedly by the character Edgar Deacon, entitled "The Childhood of Cyrus" (the boy-king is being taught to hold a bow with the hanging gardens of Babylon in the background). Can anyone tell me the artist who actually painted this painting, and any other information about it? (It's quite a painting, obviously not a quick hack-job done just for the movie!) Thanks.

I'm no expert, Sport, but I can drive a mouse. Perhaps this is the info you require (or perhaps not). Apparently, they can run you off a copy on canvas in three weeks (are the artists in China, I think I've heard of them?).

The painting in the Hermitage hardly looks like it would have been painted by Edgar. Much too well painted.

No, that's not the painting. (It has the same title and subject, but is not the painting that was used in this film.)

Who plays the Deacon character?

reply

Frank Middlemass.
