Episode 3 -Charles

Why was Charles and a number of other people in the mobile laundry unit sent to the "Far East", and why was he killed??? This was not clear or I missed something.

I'm not sure of the details either, but it's too bad there wasn't more of him. Charles Stringham is my favourite part of the show.

reply

I thought he was a rather sad and tragic figure. His niece was something else, wasn't she?! (Love Miranda Richardson!)

reply

Tragic yes but he's also amusing and charming, a bit like Sebastian Flyte of BR. Stringham was a gentle and intelligent soul beneath the dipso.

reply

Wasn't Charles taken prisoner? I thought he died in the prison camp where we saw him being beaten.

They were sent because of the campaigns being fought in that part of the world.

Also, he ended up a captive and then dead because Winderpoole did nothing to keep his old friend from such a fate.

Beauty is truth, truth beauty.

reply

Right, that's what I thought. (Need to watch this again.)

How are you getting along? Enjoying it?
