I don't watch the show much these days, so here goes.

Seasons one and two flow together as one extended season for me, so given the chance I'd rank 1+2 as the best, and 3 as second best. If I have to split them into distinct seasons, I'd say 2, 3, then 1.

After season 3 the show took a big dip in terms of quality. It was still quite good, but those first 3 seasons were phenomenal. Season 5 is the strongest of the rest, and the remaining three are about equal, with 6 being a bit better and 4 and 7 being almost equal. I think the army of slayers in season 7 tilts the balance in favor of that being the worst of the bunch, though the whole Initiative subplot was pretty crappy, too.

Season 2 is the best and season 7 is the worst. I don’t see that viewpoint ever changing.

I used to love season 3 but after watching it again I have come to realize just how silly this season is.
A lot of the episodes make no sense. Take Helpless for example. It makes no sense. Why would the watchers want to see what a de-powered slayer can do? What if there’s a vampire attack And now there’s no slayer around? They been drugging slayers for the test for hundreds of years but syringes have only been around not even 100 years? Making watchers “kinda evil” is a ridiculous running subplot.
