The day today vs Brass Eye

Morris makes them both equaly good. But if I had to pick one I'd have to go with TDT

Me too. Loved them both- watched them on the first airing and many, many times since.

While Brass Eye is superb, it is amazingly sadistic, which is great for late night-beer-sodden viewing, but sometimes I really don't have the stomach for it.

The Day Today is great, and slightly less intense, with some great things: Peter O'Hanrahanrahan, Alan Partridge on sport, "The Pool", the War episode, Bombdogs ( "being old they would have died soon anyway" ) and the 999 piss-take.

Newsfelch.

I say Brass Eye.

I have only seen clips of TDT but i thought it looked well less funny than Brass eye. The parts with that dude off kids tv doing silly sketches in between the bits was a bit lame and it didnt seem as funny. It was still kinda funny but nothing compared to the constant hilarity of Brass Eye.

Both are brilliant in so many ways.

I honestly cannot decide which one overall is better, the two programs are just simply the best two satrical programs ever on television.

That clip: "The parts with that dude off kids tv doing silly sketches in between the bits"

If that's where Graham Linehan and someone else 'bury dad on the cheap', that's the only bit in TDT that annoys me. Just seems lame and out-of-place.

I think that TDT is the funnier one, but brasseye is better television overall, it is a masterpiece.

The Day Today is the better work. It genuinely breaks new ground, which Brass Eye then continued; when Morris did JLB8 in Brass Eye we knew he was re-working Fur Q from The Day Today. It contains better comic acting; as good as Mark Heap and Amelia Bulmore are they are less talented comic actors then Steve Coogan and Rebecca Front. It is a far better attack on the form of TV news; Brass Eye has nothing to match the finance arse, or "FACT X IMPORTANCE = NEWS"; indeed, some of its graphics (i.e. when the word 'cruel' starts flashing) don't really work. Put bluntly, The Day Today fuses the talents of Chris Morris and Armando Iannucci, both at the top of their game, whilst Brass Eye only has Morris, even though it also seems to contain some pastiches of Iannucci's comedy (I may be wrong, but compare the "fond of click 'ting stamps" sequence in The Day Today with the "is alarm justified" sequence in Brass Eye).

Don't get me wrong - Brass Eye is brilliant. But it is less original, less focussed, not so well acted, and - and this is very important - not as funny as The Day Today.

They are both excellent, with several hilarious scenes, such as the Bomb dogs on 'The Day Today', and the drug awareness campaign in 'Brass Eye'.

Both sublime but I think Brass Eye has more memorable moments.
