The Pot Shot at Joel Schumacher

When that flamboyant kid "Joel" was caressing a mink scarf off a lady's mannequin and quipping about Batman's muscles.

I understand he was unpopular for making "Batman & Robin", but taking a shot at his sexuality was in cheap and poor taste.

I still think this was the lowest thing they've done in the series.

You know how you get back at a bad film? Make a better product, don't stoop to that depth.

Joel apologized on camera for B&R, and these guys made a homophobic blurb in their kid's cartoon.... classy.

"They say time is the fire in which we burn."

as I remember it "Joel" wasn't mocked for being 'flamboyant'... they simply dismissed his Ideas and moved on

and Schumacher has always been out and Proud; so more likely the mannerisms were simply to strengthen the reference... so when people, who know of Schumacher and his role in the 'Camp' of those films, saw the scene they'd 'get it'

He didn't apologize for Batman Forever though.

Come on now; he made a movie a LOT of people didn't like, and killed the franchise.

I don't need no stinking signature!

Personally, although I'm not a fan of Batman Returns, I hate both of Schumaker's films and lump them in together because there really isn't much difference between them. I find that Clooney was the factor that tipped the scale of the last film.

I can enjoy Batman Forever for nostalgic purposes and it's not quite as overdone as Batman & Robin but I still wouldn't call it a good film. I really want to like it as I did when I was a kid but I find Val Kilmer to be boring, Tommy Lee Jones was not a good Two-Face, I dug Jim Carrey as The Riddler for a while but eventually he got too over-the-top and his final costume just made me feel awkward and finally Chris O'Donnell was plain annoying and Robin just turned out to be just as much a damsel-in-distress as Chase was in the end.

I still enjoy the over-the-top action in certain scenes, getting inside Bruce's head and having him come to terms with his past and the introduction of Arkham Asylum but it's not enough to save the movie for me. Especially with such a boring Batman.
