Monkey + the Gold Coin Story?

I know it's not really important but one of the kids was telling a joke about a monkey that keeps returning with gold coins to his master & then the story was interrupted & we never found out the actual punchline :o(
Is this based on a real joke or was it just made up for the film? Does anybody know the rest of it by the way? I just hate being kept in suspense.............
