I saw the film when it came out, and tonight I re-watched it. Thank you, Netflix streaming.

Here are some links I looked up if anyone is interested in reading more about the ship. The English teacher, Langford, wrote a book. On amazon, Sheldon, the captain, endorses it.

"Tall Ships Down" by Parrott covers several ship losses, including Albatross. I think this is the book that blames her rigging -- too much sail area.

Finally, not about the Albatross, but about a more recent loss of the 'Phantome' in Hurricane Mitch in 1998.

I have 551 days at sea, mostly on submarines, and I can think of few places worse than stranded at sea after the loss of one's ship.
