Saddest part...*spoilers*

When Ryan was stuck in the boat, omg I couldn't even watch it I was crying so hard, it was horrible. Like when they showed him and Scott staring at each other in the window, I just about lost it right then and there, it was horrible!
And now I am picturing it in my head and getting all teary...ugh.

I am gonna have to disagree with you... the worst part IS WHEN THE DOLPHIN DIES. WHY???? This is such a pointless movie. The only people that should watch this is nobody and people who like dead dolphins. THIS MOVIE IS HORRIBLE

reply

OK..maybe it wasn't the best movie, i thought it was rather good, but thats besides the point. Yea, they killed a dolphin, but big deal, dont get me wrong, i love animals, but its not like they made this whole thing up. These were real people and some of them died. I thought when Chuck couldnt save Gil was tear-jerking..Gil knew it and he tried to let Chuck off the hook. I think it was a good movie, we got to see what these people went through...

reply

You think this movie is horrible because they killed a dolphin in the plot? Ha.

reply

When Gil is stuck on the other side of the door and can't escape, and they have to leave him there. That's pretty tough.

ok, I tried sooooooooo hard not to comment on this stupid dolphin kick that tombo seems to be on...the movie was anything but pointless, it had more depth then most of the bull that comes out more recently...what are the point of stoner movies? horror movies? they are there for entertainment and that is all. Anyhow, the point of the dolphin scene was to show you how Frank was before and then when you see him later in the movie. He had no respect for life, he was a snotty rich kid who felt he could do anything he wanted WHENEVER he wanted. But throughout the movie he evolves into a caring and mature young man. He realizes the value of all life. SO JUST DEAL WITH IT! IT HAPPENED AND A LESSON WAS LEARNED! MOVE ON!

Maybe I am crazy, but I value a human life over an animals especially a fake animal. Ya know, they didn't kill a real Fu@king dolphin so get over it already! go troll someone where else! This is a great if not decent movie. it's a little sappy at the end but so is dead poets society and it's a great movie.
now, I'm gonna go eat some tuna. *beep* the dolphins. are you happy now? Now I want to go strangle a dolphin in front of you!

I cried over this one way more than even Titanic and Perfect Storm. Actually this film is deeper. The other 2 are just mega blockbuster hits.

Agreed. The saddest part for me was when Sisto's character was sent back home. He only lost it because his father was such a tremendous jerk. That ship and those people were all that could have kept him together, but his dad just HAD to show up. You can feel his progression from potenially brilliant kid to run-down psychopath. That's what makes me sad, and part of what makes it such a good film. Deep, as you say.

reply

I was sad to see Sisto go too...it would have been great to see his character trying to deal with the squall like the others. But actually his character and the story with him was really interesting. Yes his dad was so abusive, not just physically but mentally. He just knocked down anything that poor kid was trying to build up inside. It was really awful to see such abuse. It was like Scott Wolf's character said, "They put us here to make us change, but all they really do is keep us the same."

The death of Gil Martin (Ryan P.) was pretty upsetting and sad too. And Scott W's reaction to is (post traumatic stress reaction). I just thought this movie was great.

Would it be of any comfort to learn, it DEFINITELY did not happen? In such an event, a ship will sink much too quick for heard-rending scenes. It was designed on a warm, comfortable desk to make people like you crying. So cry, if you feel like, but do not think, somebody really died that way.

i agree with degrassichick when Ryan was stuck in the boat i swear a little part of me died. he's so hot the best actor ever and they had to ruin the movie for me by letting him die. This was the third movie i seen with Ryan 1st I Know What You Did Last Summer 2nd Cruel Intentions and 3rd White Squall so i had to sit through 3 movies where he ended up dying :( i really love him 2.

Annette(Reese Witherspoon)- i'm impressed
Sebastian(Ryan Phillippe :)- well i'm in love

Omg...that is really sad. I cried so much that i almost drowned like he did...lol. I hate crying in front of other people, and i was watching this movie with a bunch of friends and in that part i just started crying so much...

reply

Yeha it really sad the people who died, but it was an accident. The dolphin was killed for no reason, just an act of cruelty and that, for me was the saddest part. Seeing his family swimming away, and he's been shot for nothing. I hate the bits after when the boys are defending Frank (i think) to the skipper, I'd be like he just shot a dolphin, get him off the ship!! I don't care what he's been through with his life or anything, you can't excuse that. Whether it was a real dolphin or not, its still part of the film, and there are idiots who do things like that.

reply

I just finished it and I am devastated by it... such sad a powerful film....

reply

That was sad indeed since he was so scared but it was stupid of him to go back for a picture. I felt worse for Bridges and his wife tbh.
