The movie is a bore -- one of those plots that just push the pieces around and hope the actors make it live. But Auteuil sure does his part. He's never been hotter.

You don't get it, the plots of this - there's at least three different stories interwoven - show the human sides of crime and morals in a haunting way. This has to be one of the ultimate cult movies, happy I saw it on the theatre round ten years ago. And both Deneuve, Auteuil and Cote are brilliant - Laurence Cote is a real gem.

I agree that Auteuil is sexier than anyone would expect in this, but I don't agree the movie is a bore.

Lots of good scenes with Daniel/Alex

-- where his father tells him he'd rather it had been him (Alex)

-- where he tells Jimmy the stakes are different - he'll get fired but Jimmy will get 20 years. The look on Jimmy's face after he said that. ha ha ha

-- where he asks his nephew if he hates him.

-- Auteuil and Deneuve compare notes on how each felt about the other as a rival. She wanted to kill him. He wanted to have a threesome.

there's more but I gotta go
