Siskel and Ebert review 'A Very Brady Sequel'

Siskel (R.I.P.) was on point. I usually disagreed with him on his picks and favored Ebert but this time he echoed my sentiments about this movie. I didn't like the original that much either. It was a clever concept but the jokes didn't work for me that much. The sequel was much funnier and the comedy doesn't hit you over the head and try to be to ambitious or smarter than it is. I still laugh out loud when I watch this movie and it's one of my favorites.

It all depends on what's your humour. For instance I find them to be great comedies, very clever but masked so young people won't get many of the references.
But a quick question - if you're not really a fan of the movies, why did you write all that?

Who said I wasn't a fan of the movies?? I never said that. Reread my original post. I said I didn't like the original Brady Bunch movie. I very much liked the sequel.

I watched their review, and it seems to me that they never watched the original series. Siskel talked about the Marcia/Greg relationship as if it was not at all tongue in cheek. He had to know that that was a play on the obvious sexual tension between the actors in the original show (there were rumors they hooked up.) He didn't get the joke. This doesn't work well if you aren't familiar with not only the characters, but also some of the plots (Hawaii, Attic Bedroom, Cheerleader/Class President Voting). Much of both movies is a direct parody of specific moments in the series.

Instead of listening to two old hacks review movies, people should watch the films themselves and form their own opinions.

I agree with Vince...

Who cares? They're both dead.

Yes, it is a shame dude/dudette.

Overall, I enjoyed both films. Currently watching the sequel in glorious HD as we speak. I love the opening piece that plays over the paramount logo in the beginning , sounds very nostalgic for the "Bradys Era".

I won't bother to read their review because I never liked Siskel or Ebert for that matter, but I will say the sequel is better than the first.

I'm watching an old episode of The Brady Bunch, it's the one where Jan has a problem.
