Waaaaay Underrated

I consider myself usually quite in sync with what the mainstream critics think. I rarely like a movie that is panned or disdained by critics.

Thus, I can't see why such a low rating on Rotten Tomatoes. This film is absolutely hilarious. I'll go out on a limb and call it one of the best parody comedies of the modern age.

I thought it would get a minimum of a 7, but I was really hoping to see an 8 or a 9.

The only conclusion I can draw is that some critics take life waaaayyy too seriously.

My second beef is that there seems to be a knee jerk reaction to rate this lower than the Brady Bunch Movie. Both myself and my 10 year old daughter agree this is the better movie with more laughs, though the first movie was also very funny and good.

Just goes to show- the critics cannot always be relied on to give a fair appraisals of the movies they watch.

The magic mushroom spaghetti scene alone was worth it!!!

Morbo agrees. The first one was very very good, this second one had even more laughs.

I totally agree. The first one was good, but this was better. It was more cynical of the Bradys, which made it hilarious, particularly with Tim Matheson's character.

And I'm rarely a fan of sequels. I usually find that 99% of the time, sequels are inferior to the original, and in some cases far inferior. The only other sequels I can think of that I consider better than the original would be "The Godfather Part II" and "Terminator II".

I enjoy both, but I found I got more genuine laughs out of this sequel, than the mild snickers the original elicited out of me. It wasn't as slapsticky, and the humor was yes more cynical and appeared as a satire rather than a parody like the first.

Yep this movie is very funny. The thing with critics is that they have their noses in the air and think they are aaaaahtists like the actors over which they fawn. Sometimes movies shouldn't be taken too seriously and should just be enjoyed. A couple of other movies I like a lot that critics panned are Not Another Teen Movie (spoof of many teen movies from the 80s and 90s) and Step Brothers. All it takes is for the viewer to relax and enjoy the jokes.
