Bimbo seriously mis-cast?

Is it just me, or did they completely screw-up on casting whoever plays Bimbo?
He is NOTHING like the character in the "buke" (book)....

The actor who plays him is a simpering drip of a man with no bollyx to speak of. I cringe watching this movie. The guy who acts it obviously never read the book and has no talent what-so-phukin-ever!

And yes, Im from the north bleedin side of dublin meself.

So I should know! Ha! :)

I disagree. I think Donal O'Kelly did a fantastic job at playing Bimbo. Roddy Doyle wrote the screenplay. If you feel that the character of Bimbo in this adaptation didn't meet the standards of the book then take it up with Roddy Doyle.

I agree. Most of the characters were terrible. The acting was so poor.
Even Colm Meany didn't do justice to the role of Larry/Jimmy Sr.
Caroline Rothwell was dire, the daughter was hopeless and the son was soooo out of place.

Now that I've viewed it again I add Brendan O'Carroll's character and Maggie to the list.
How could casting be so poor?
