Anyone here read 'Monster' by John Gregory Dunne?

It's a great book that's all about the writing of this film. Unfortunately, the book is better than the movie. If you haven't read it, you should check it out. If you have, I'd love to hear your comments!

I'm reading it now. I have not seen this movie.

I had the same situation--I read the book, then saw the movie. The book about the making of this movie is MUCH better than the movie, unfortunately.

Wow, way to keep up with this thread, dani.

I finished the book, and it was interesting read about the process. I do not plan on seeing the movie.

Seven years after the post, and I'm reading Monster by Dunne... Good little book, it has gotten me to work for an entire week, no easy feat... Never saw the movie, and in fact, don't recall it's release... Am interested in matching the movie up with the book.... Dunne's reference to Robert Towne's observation that movie stars don't become masters of their craft by delivering lines, they become masters by their ability to be photographed... So true... How a script that has gone through 25 drafts and countless revisions an 1/2 dozen writers can make it to the end is beyond me...

Just finished reading the book this morning, enjoyed every page. Did not recall hearing much about the movie when it came out, would not have been interested in seeing it then...NOW I CAN'T WAIT! Have a hold on a library copy of the DVD.
