Not many posts here, I just watched this movie (I know im 10 years late) what can i say I am a bit slow, I really did like this film, excellent cast and great acting, I have been a fan of both lead actresses for a long time (the reason i found this movie in the first place) it needs some fans to post here.

I love this film, mainly because Gena Rowlands can do no wrong in my book. I saw this in the theater when it was released, and I now own it on tape. This is a very well acted, moving story about the power of community and family (though, of course, sometimes those can be overpowering).

This is probably the best and most intelligent film that I've seen on the internal life of an older woman reflected by external events - superbly played with great compassion by marvellous Gena Rowlands.

Such an amazing preformance by an amazing actress. It's sad this this demographic seems altogether forgotten by films -- both mainstream and independent. "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore" and "Summer Wishes, Winter Dreams" covered similar ground in the '70s, but with women in their 40s.

shareI just now saw it on TV on Showtime. I too enjoyed it very much. However, I wished the ending was more spelled out for us. She had to have hauled her belongings SOMEwhere.
sharep.s. I also thought Gena Rowland's truck driver male friend was too young for her. He was probably about 15-20 years younger.
shareJust saw this movie last nite-very impressed. All the actors were 'spot-on', especially Gena & Marisa. I expected the wife beater to show up & harm Marisa; maybe even Gena. I thought the estranged daughter would have a bigger storyline: maybe an overdose, prison.Maybe rob her mother's house-mother gets hurt in the process. It's funny how you think a movie is gonna turn out.
