I wonder if the FBI would have ever caught the 'unabomber' if.....

I liked this movie/story a lot because it is based on a true story. I wonder if the FBI would have ever caught Ted (the unabomber)if his brother David or any other relative would have never turned him in to the authorities. I mean, he went unnoticed for about 18 years, until his brother turned him in. I guess not. Many cases that are investigated by the police, I think, are solved because people give them information. What do you think?

Look at The Zodiac, he started killing in 1968 and continued to send letters to taunt the police and til this day, they still haven't bee nable to prove who the Zodiac really was.

I doubt it. He was (almost) too smart. Who would have suspected a bum, living a shack in the middle of nowhere, with practically no income, no electricity would be responsible for all those bombings? His cabin doesn't exactly look like a sophisticated bomb making lab.

His manifesto was his undoing, if you ask me. If weren't for that, I'd say they wouldn't have caught him.

I always though that FBI would have ever caught him if his brother would never turned him in to the autorithies. If they never have done that, he will be active until these days...

No, he would not have been caught. I recently watched a documentary and it said that even seasoned FBI agents turned the case down when asked if they wanted in on it. They felt it was unsolvable. I DO NOT CONDONE what this man did, but I found his story interesting because he was not hypocritical in his lifestyle. He hated technology and he did not use it which was the main reason why the FBI could not get him.
