shareI know this is years later if you go on funny or die and look at the Denis Leary remembers he talks about his films and he said this was one of the funniest scripts he's read until the director got a hold of it.

shareI found humor in him saying and fuming about the movie but there's also probably a ring of truth. Leary probably didn't give him a masterpiece but I can guarantee jokes ext were taken out that would have made the movie better. Once other people get involved they can really screw things up if they don't agree with the message. Especially the director who has basically all control at that point then the studio gets last cut on the film but they can only piece together what the director shot. Looking at the track record of the director I have to believe he could have been a problem.
