Disaster movies better than Twister

The Day After Tomorrow
Dante's Peak
Geostorm
2012

reply

Is disagree about TDAT, that movie is mostly crap

Dante’s Peak is probably a worse movie but I would argue it has huge entertainment value so I can see someone putting it above Twister

I never saw the other two

reply

I personally love TDAT, but not for its science/disaster scenes. I watch that movie mainly for the library scenes. I memorized the librarian's line about the printed word being mankind's greatest achievement (Yes. I'm a book geek.)

reply

Geez nothing from the 70s? I thought that decade owned the genre.

reply

You really can't go wrong with any 90s disaster movie. (Excluding Speed 2. Some people think it's a disaster movie.) Those movies are all entertaining and hit every disaster movie cliche check mark.

reply

Wasn't there a volcano movie with tommy lee jones and anne heche?

reply

Yes, called Volcano and it wasn't very good. Maybe worth watch--once--for laughs.

reply

The OP is high comedy.

None of those films can touch Twister, and Dante's Peak and The Day After Tomorrow are the only ones that would even be in the conversation.

Geostorm was . . . not awful. It was watchable but nothing more than that.

2012 is an actively shitty movie. It's bad and no one should watch it.

reply

I agree with the one above me.

Dante’s Peak ain’t bad. But Twister is better.

reply

i would remove 2012 from that list, too corny

reply

The Day After Tomorrow is my favorite disaster film so far. I haven't seen Geostorm or 2012. I did enjoy Dante's Peak, not as much as Twister.

reply

The Day After Tomorrow was ahead of its time in a lot of ways.
