I prefer this to Independance Day

The FX are just as good (if understandably less epic in scope). The action is more exciting. The characters are more likeable and have better chemistry together. Shame it was shaded slightly at the box office by the mid-90s cultural obsession with UFOs etc; this should have been the bigger hit of the two.

What's more, it's the second and last great film Jan de Bont directed. His career really dived after this.

What really hurt it is the really clichéd other team. You're not supposed to like them because they drive black trucks and have corporate sponsors. It would have been a far better movie if they left that out or made them more likable and even helpful like the real chasers.

I get so bored with Independence Day. This movie keeps my attention.

I wholeheartedly agree. Twister is bad, but it's fun to watch and in the end it doesn't try so hard.

Independence Day is pure corn.

The tornadoes still create more visceral excitement than the aliens playing war games, as far as I'm concerned.🐭

I went to see Independence Day in theaters before this. I like them about the same, but Twister just a bit more.

Hollywood is a place where they'll pay you $50,000 for a kiss and 50 cents for your soul.

For aliens in outer space coming to turn our world to crap, Independence Day is genius. For mankind to take on mother nature and live to tell about it, Twister is the film to watch.

Me too. Don't get me wrong, this film is dumb as bread, but its entertaining and not as offensively stupid as Independence Day where you just want to punch each character in the face.
