zooney doll story ripoff

They totally ripped off the whole story of the zooney doll basicly from the 1st trilogy of terror. It was pretty cheap. The story was identical except for acid instead of an oven, and in a museum instead of a house. They recycled sooo many of the same elements and scenes. Id be embarrased if I directed the sequel. 2 unoriginal stories and a 3rd that completely ripps off from the first. garbage.

It was made by the exact same guy. Sure, he copied it, but he was copying himself.

***SPOILER!!**

The only thing I didn't care for was at the very end when the African warrior spirit jumped inside of her. It's not nearly as appealing, or frightening, as the sight of that little wooden terror running and screaming it's little head off lol.

That's what I love about the Zuni doll, he's just pure rage, no talking, no discussion, just pure unadulterated madness lol.

I like both versions.

I agree. In fact, from the point where the lead character says, "This can't be happening," they copied the first script. Look at the original and then this and you'll see the exact same thing.

All true. But on the other hand it was a Direct Sequel to the first one with Karen Black. It's basically the morning after. Of course many sequels lift scenes and redo them.
Of course I've always wondered why Black's possessed character killed herself. Maybe the doll looked in the mirror and got confused? lol

they took it one step to far in exactly replicating the original with the knife scene. REALLY? Two women in 24 hours are dumb enough to try to catch a moving knife with their fingers???

It's a remake of the first one dummy. I liked it.

Yeah, I was hoping they would have an original story with the Zuni Doll, but that didn't happen. I'm sure a remake will get made sometime in the near future.

You guys cannot be serious. You do realize that almost all horror just repeats the same thing over and over with different people don't you? Friday the 13th, Halloween, saw, they all just do the same things over and over and over with different people. This was written to be a direct continuation from the next day after the original took place. What did you expect them to do, have the doll turn into some alien who was now on some planet in deep space just waiting in an egg for a ship to come by?

reply

I would agree with that. Most horror sequels are just the same story with a few minor tweaks and different characters. Sequels that dare to be too different (Halloween III: Season of the Witch, Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2, Exorcist II: The Heretic, Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday, etc.) are often the most hated ones. I said in another threat that the Zuni doll story in this one could be considered both a sequel and a remake at the same time, but that doesn't mean it's bad. I still think both stories are pretty good. People should be grateful we got more of the story we all loved the first time rather than complain about it.
