One Thing I Didn't Understand

When Crystal passes out on the booth and Tommy lies down on the seat next to her, he reaches out and grabs her hand. All that night he showed nothing but lust towards her, but that seemed more like a gesture of love. Any idea how deep his feelings for Crystal were? It didn't seem like he'd known her that long, but the way he held her hand in that one moment displayed a lot of emotion.

i totally agree i think he saw his moment and went for it . i don't know if lucky mckee was influenced by trees lounge at all or not but may has a similar scene .

It's about connections. He is so desperate for human companionship that just holding the hand of someone (even if that someone happens to be unconscious)would be a temporary salve to his loneliness. It's one of my favorite scenes in the film.

He wanted to get laid with her by using a stupid bar trick, that - I guess - wouldn´t work on any place of the world. Little children die without the touch of human skin. For grown ups , it is not that easy, but also necessary. In that moment he suffers of not holding her hand. And there´s one more thing: He recognizes holding her hand, even if she was in an alcoholic coma. She doesn´t recognize him at all. Tommy is not even worth a recognition. Holding Chrytals hand ment a lot to him, but to her it´s nothing.

Pale, u called it the same way I saw it. he was just desperate to feel close to someone at that moment. Very underrated scene.

Being drunk in a bar at least once in my life, I can say that a guy can fall in love with a girl in a bar in a matter of seconds. A little conversation, laughter, flirting, attraction and presto...true love! Stupid but true.
