Excellent film, PITY?

This is an excellent film, which was completed on a very short budget, (you could tell). It had some really funny humour in it...

HOWEVER

It was far, far to similar to the Terminator to make it a great movie. Far to similar indeed.

"The Terminator" lifted from previous ideas. Try this, for example:
Cyborg 2087 (1966)
starring Michael Rennie, Karen Steele, Wendell Corey, Warren Stevens, John Beck
From IMDb:
In the future world of the year 2087, freedom of thought is illegal, and the thoughts of the world's populations are controlled by the government. A small band of "free thinkers" send a cyborg back in time to the year 1966 to prevent a scientist from making the breakthrough that will eventually lead to the mass thought control of the future. Our time traveler soon discovers he is not alone when government agents from the future try to prevent him from carrying out his mission.

There are others, too, including episodes of "The Outer Limits", that predate John Cameron's film. Of course, he's noted for heavy borrowing. One of my favorites is the "Titanic" plot that strongly resembles the first episode of "The Time Tunnel" (1966).

*** The trouble with reality is there is no background music. ***
