Excellent and hugely underrated sequel!

For a TV Movie, this was absolutely brilliant. Sidney Poitier was superb and the dialogue was fantastic.
Wasn't sure at first but it won me over and just gets better and better.

I wasn't expecting much, but...wow....in my opinion, this outshines even the original!

Very highly recommended.

I have just watched the original version. (probably the third time I've seen it). This was a great film and easily in my top 5 favourite films. The feel good factor was immense and it brought tears to my eyes at the end with Lulu on stage and My Thackery being presented with the gift.

After coming here to look up something about the film I found that they made this sequel. I went to Amazon and ordered it straight away. When I saw Judy Geeson and Lulu were both in it, it was a no brainer :) (I'm not expecting them to have much of a part)

I've not seen it yet and will be watching it with an open mind.

I just watched it today on YouTube, but I'll stick to the original, the sequel was kind of lame, it only makes it worse, and even ruined it. My point is the affair with the American woman with their love-child doesn't make much sense; the confrontation with the gangs when he approached the other side was too idealistic, he might get shot; and the reunion which makes it seem like the reunions of the actors from the original of 1967 version. I actually don't treat it as a sequel to the original version, they can't relate to each other except the some Sidney.
