Kevin

I'm sorry but who in their right mind names their daughter Kevin? I get the whole woman-with-a-guy's-name angle, but the writers couldn't do better than Kevin?

Her name really bothered me, too. I'm really not a fan of guys with female names and females with male names. It's a little too strange for me. People know what the sex of their babies are usually before birth, so they should name the child accordingly.

I saw a play that must have been based on the movie and heard Kevin say that her parents wanted to have a boy, but it never happened.

"Tsuppari is my former name."

It was a distracting plot detail which really had nothing much to do with the story.

Kevin was supposed to be a reasonably-attractive setup for David who decided she didn't want to get involved.

I suppose maybe if they wanted to walk back her backstory to reveal she had been somewhat neglected by her parents (who wanted a son intead) and left in the lurch by her jerk husband, and thus was not disposed to trust men, it might have been a more complex and interesting back story, but the movie was not supposed to be about the life story of Kevin and why she did or didn't trust men.

Whether her name was Kevin or Karen wouldn't have made any difference to the story.

I agree I found that dumb as well. Never been crazy about men with female names or females with male names. I get wanting to be different or exotic but surely the parents could have come up with better.

Even if she had a female name, Kevin was an unpleasant jerk who opened her rude mouth and had a lot to say about nothing. She was a waste.
