Good movie, but an unlikely trial

A young and drunk gun thug busts into a business and is killed by his gun that he brought into the business. A white man covers for the black man that did it. I don't see the white man being tried under the circumstances depicted, even in the 50's.

Ignoring politics doesn't mean politics will ignore you.
