I know that there is a big build up at the end, how Carl Lee states he chose Brigance to get them to see the case in the eyes of a white person, but throughout the trial, there is a theme of trying to justify the killings because of the rape of Carl Lee's daughter. The judge keeps dismissing this.

Utimately, it still comes down to Carl Lee getting off because of the rape of his daughter. Could the judge refuse to accept the jury's decision?

BTW, I agree with the outcome.

u me and any 1 else of normal mind-set whose not a bias redneck, prejudice idiot.
I'm watchin it now on cable, absolutely LOVE this movie, talk about chills thru the bod when watching a few several scenes, just so intensely-good, I LOVE IT never tired of it.
MATTHEW SAMUEL L.JACKSON SANDRA was top-notch in this as a few others,but they really was amazing in this.
