SPOILERS ALERT - When Richie Ginnelli started to attack them...

... at that gypsy camp, couldn't any of the gypsies including Tedzu Lempke and his grand daughter Gina use any of their supernatural powers in order to flush the assailant out? Given how it was established that they are able to curse people, and also, as earlier in the case of the grand daughter, see and hear what is going on many meters away, why were they not able to do it here?

And when after posing as an FBI agent Richie started to attack Kari Wuhrer's aforementioned character, couldn't she have used any of her supernatural abilities to disable him and fight back?

Were their supernatural powers extremely limited? Thanks.

P.S. I know indeed this is another spoiler. But I wonder, given how in the book, the aforementioned gangster character actually dies whereas in the movie at best, his fate is uncertain, I wonder - what would it look like if the ending from the book was actually featured in the movie, with his hand apparently lying on the passenger seat covered in ball bearings? Thanks.

I remember being worried for Richie when he takes Tedzu's granddaughter into the barn but it turns out that their supernatural abilities were quite limited and the scene with the daughter's super-hearing was more for eerie atmoshere purposes imo. Also if they were that overpowered then they wouldn't have been huddling together all scared after she shot a hole in Billy's hand while Billy was cursing the camp.
