Weird facial expressions

The actor portraying Billy made some really odd goofy facial expressions. I wonder if it's because of the fat makeup on his face limiting what he could do so he overcompensated with pop eyed facial expressions.

I thought this too.

I thought the same thing too. Not sure if it was the makeup or what. But they got a little weird, LOL!

The ("WEIRD?")expressions were made to match the circumstance that he was facing at the moment. In no way did I think they were weird! They were very pensive in further illustrating the specificity of the situation. WOW: I was warned years ago about the IMDB nitwits and trolls out there which is why I rarely post a comment these days--no offense. IE: weighing himself at the tailor's(worry), attraction to the gypsy girl, etc. etc.

He had a big dumb-ass grin like he was trying too hard to be "fat and jolly". It just looked stupid.

I loved it though. His facial expressions and voice make this movie

I thought they went too far with the fat makeup. like it is obvious it is fat make up especially on his face. look at his mouth in the beginning when he is eating with his client... his mouth was just too small.

Oh God. Fortune vomits on my eiderdown once more.

I agree. The makeup is awful and the facial expressions on the actor who plays Billy make him look mentally challenged, even though he's supposed to be a talented attorney. The makeup was like a cheap halloween costume or something you'd see in a super low budget B movie, not a major studio release. There was no excuse for it to look so amateurish. It's slightly better in the scenes when he lost weight, though it's still bad in those too, but when he's supposed to be fat, it looks ridiculous.

His wide eyed mugging may have been him trying to compensate for his perceived lack of ability to move his face under all that rubber and plastic or he might have been trying to show that the character was initially a relatively nice guy compared to how angry and suspicious he became later on, but he over did it and it just didn't work.
