Ángela behaves like a deer in headlights

Throughout the movie she's sprawling about trying to keep it together. Even while being threatened in the middle of town with hundreds of people as would-be witnesses, she ends up running off to an isolated dead-end several times. In slasher films, victims are usually isolated, attacked, then attempting their hardest to find anyone that can help. Angela wants help, but she runs away from it. The worst is that she's always caught off guard by something or someone, with a wide-eyed paralyzed look on her face that's hard to take seriously. She has no flight-or-fight response, just stares into the light until it hits her in the head.

This is an example of a character who, in order to serve plot points, is more naive than humanly possible, like a deer making contact with humans for the first time.
