Gore and torture?

I like the premise of this film but I can't handle gory movies. I also can't handle torture scenes. I love thrillers but not anything that involves graphic violence. I'm too sensitive. I'm wondering how much disturbing footage is shown? If it's minimal I can avert my eyes but if it's peppered thoughout I'll have to pass. Any advice?

Just in case you're still wondering, I advise you not to watch it. The movie is great, its suspenseful, thrilling, has great scenes and cinematography and had me on the edge of my seat a few times but its very disturbing. Depending on how immersed you are in the film it can feel too strong, the images shown provide the illusion of real gore, violence and torture, it is also part of her thesis and the message of the film but I you're squeamish I wouldn't watch it.

To give you an example. If you can stand to watch the movie Sinister (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1922777/combined) and what was shown in those videos, which were very disturbing, are still a little less shocking compared to the ones you see on Tesis.

Okay, thanks for your reply. I wish I could handle it :(

The violence is definitely not "peppered throughout" the film. However the film teases a lot as if it were to show some truly disturbing imagery that would scar you forever. But thankfully it doesn't, and that, at least for me was more effectively scary than if they had shown actual snuff.

I am just like you, I also find gore images disturbing.. But I think this movie is moderate in that sense...there are some scenes in the tape they watch that are brutal, personally I turned my gaze and looked elsewhere when they were on screen...and it was okay...there's a lot of mention of violence in the movie but the actual brutal images last only for 4-5 minutes...If you are super sensitive to these things then I would say avoid otherwise it is quite manageable...
