I'm sort of worried...

Ok, so I'm apart of Universal Studios's mailing list, and they recently sent me a survey concerning adding a new live show to the park (the studio side) and among the choices were Fame, America's Got Talent, Groundhog Day, Animal House, and American Pie (there were some others I don't remember). At first I was a little enthusiastic, but then they said all the movie-based shows would have their inappropriate humor taken out (including Animal House and American Pie) so that little kids could see it, which I thought was stupid since gross humor was what MADE the movies and without that, they'd just be stupid musicals.

But I digress, the reason why I was worried was that this live show was to featured in the studios portion of the park, and since they'd be based on films or tv shows, I assumed they would be in the Hollywood section...where T2 3D is. Now, one may say that they are going to build a new theater IF the live show gets the green light, but think about it. Yes, T2 has been proclaimed as a sacred movie classic. Yes, T2 has an impossibly huge and dedicated fan base. Yes, the movie has made millions of dollars and sparked spin-off series and two sequels. And yes, the movie marked a new era of special effects and theme elements.

But both the movie and the show are over a decade old...and I'm worried that Universal is going to close it for a musical show that might not even be funny. T2, I think, should not be closed for an American Pie musical or a Groundhog Day show. It's too exciting and engaging to be replaced with a comedic show. And as for audiences, sure adults will know the movies for they were in the 80s and 90s, but Terminator kept going way after those. Kids know the Terminator because the story exists today in new movies, whereas Animal House never got a sequel, and American Pie had numerous sequels that mostly went to DVD. What I'm saying is Terminator is for everyone. Kids won't have to go back and watch the whole damn movie to know what the show is about, because the movie does it for them.

Now, this whole speech may just be due to paranoia, but I'm praying that they don't close the T2 3D for a comedy musical that's been watered down. I'm sure others would agree after there was the whole commotion with the Back to the Future ride (Universal lucked out, because I loved the Simpsons ride).

They closed down Back to the Future so it's possible. I went to Universal back in august and the terminator show still had it, it was still fun as all hell and james cameron knew what he was doing with the 3D.
