Thank god for Jade's father

Thank god for Jade's father. I caught this movie only about half-way through, but found it captivating! I'd seen part of it about a year ago, but stopped watching it after Billy seduced Jade. The mother's inaction to billy's wrong and sick seduction bothered me so much i couldn't finish watching it. From what I remember and from reading the other posts on this board, the mother seemed to be self-absorbed and oblivious of anything going on betw. Jade and Billy. But Thank god for Jade's father. If it wasn't for him, I'm not sure Jade's mother would have believed Jade when she finally confessed that it was Billy who'd seduced her. I was so glad to see him shake the mother and scold her for slapping Jade when bitterly confessed about Billy. I was also glad he stepped in and took the daughter home with him after they'd left the hospital when Jade had an asthma attack. Glad SOMEone was listening to her !

But i feel like the mother sort of redeemed her selfish behavior when she yelled at Billy near the end of the movie when he was accusing Jade of making the seduction up. I love how she attacked him. Good for her!
