Why wasn't the mother angrier at Jade?? *mild spoiler*

I could certainly understand the mother being beyond furious with Billy, but why wasn't she angrier at Jade? Jade was a teen yes, but was old enough to know better than to sleep with her mom's BOYFRIEND!
I would be beyond furious with my daughter if she did that!

Her daughter was the victim here. She was underage.

I disagree. Underage doesn't excuse certain behaviors. 16 is plenty old enough to know better than to have sex with their mother's boyfriend. If she had been raped I could say she was a victim.

Yes, she was partially manipulated by Billy I don't argue that.
But she flirted wildly with him, was attracted to him. If she had been 13 or even 14, I could understand it more. But she knew better.

Good mothers do not put their boy toys above their own daughters. I was so angry at her when she slapped Jade--that was horrible.

I agree about that mother. She was a real bitch. I didn't understand her throughout this film, she said one thing and did another. I actually didn't understand the motives of ANY of the characters in this film! They were not explored enough.
The mom claims how she loved her daughter more than anything, but I saw little evidence of that.
She seemed more than a little 'off' mentally.

And she had almost zero chemistry with Billy.

It was a knee jerk reaction. She heard something that hurt her and responded badly. It was probably the first time in her life she ever hit her (and the last).
