Available in the US?

I got that DVD boxset from Ebay. While it is a great deal, in the end it might not be worth it. I bought it, and the movies are all pirated from either China or Korea (depends on which movie). Some work perfectly, others don't. For example, my copy of Swallowtail Butterfly skips the scene where the guy's head gets chopped off, and my copy of All About Lily Chou-Chou will only play the first 20 minutes of the movie, and will stop completely. One of my friends bought the boxset also and her copy of Love Letter just won't play at all. You might just be better getting Swallowtail from amazon.co.jp. All of his other movies are up there as well, some that aren't included in the box set, although Lily Chou-Chou is out of print. They're not making it anymore for whatever reason. I had to order it from amazon.co.uk

i got the same, and ended up rebuying chouchou and love letter since decent region 1 copies are available (and home vision has releases chouchou stateside even since then).

My copy of love letter had most of its menu options stripped (so the subtitle menu was there, but you couldnt choose anything). The picture was horrible, and some of the discs didnt work at all.

I found some region free DVDs of this movie in Japan. I have a copy for myself and it plays fine. I will be auctioning some on eBay. Just do an eBay search for "Swallowtail Butterfly Iwai Shunji Japanese Film DVD" You can get one for 17 dollars.
