The Ending

In the last scene, when the doctor hands over Blue to the old indian. Are we to assume that Blue dies, or was he saved? It shows him (Blue) running down the mountain as the doctor is running down the mountain on the other side. Does Blue find the magic lake? Or is the death of Blue his salvation?

reply

He dies - The lake never existed - It was just an old wise tale.

Remember what the Navajo woman said to the doctor - She said that it's a special place for a navajo people and for a white man, he'll find nothing but alot of rock and grief.

Even the old indian never mentions the lake when he first meets Blue. He only mentions the power of Diben Sa, the mountain.

After looking at your post, I wached the movie again. In the end the Dr goes back to the helicopter and it shows Blue jumping into a lake and disappearing.

I just caught this movie this week. Shame it didn't have more success. I really enjoyed it.

reply

Yes, he disappears because he dies - That was his healing - No more suffering...

What is death?

AFAIAC you can believe at the end of the film........
Because Blue believed in the lake, he found the lake.

Anything further is left to your imagination or beliefs of what death is or what could possibly happen if it was not death or if both death and non-death occurred.
