Similarities to New Trek

Well do keep in mind that this film's writer (M. Snograss) was a writer and executive producer for many Star Trek: The Next Generation shows. It makes sense too if you think about it- Star Command was intended to be an introduction to a weekly series (In The Fold) that would compete with the likes of Star Trek (then of course). The lack of popularity of the film canned any hopes for the series.
