So, this is where it all started...

Aaron Seltzer and Jason Friedberg wrote the story for this movie... Now, the only thing I liked about this movie was the theme song by Weird Al... It was a lot better than any of their other work, so I never would have guessed this was written by... them... Or is that someone just put in there?

I saw no super heroes getting hit by anvils, so I didn't know either. That's as good as their spoofing is now.

After seeing other movies these guys made, I must say Spy Hard is the best of them, Meet the Spartans was the biggest load of bullocks I have ever seen, Epic Movie and Date Movie were kinda funny, If they did more like Spy Hard they might be liked more.
Be interesting to see if anyone actually like Spartans, everyone I asked didnt

well, direction matters a lot. F/S have not a clue about comedic timing or trying to be as subtle as possible.

reply

Well, they had help writing the screenplay, so the other two writers must have taken those things out when F/S weren't looking.

You know, that's the problem with the American cinema, can't handle any complexity. -White Goodman

Aaron Seltzer and Jason Friedberg... the reasons why Scary Movie needed 4 more writers.

reply

I would never have guessed that Friedberg and Seltzer had anything to do with this movie, because I thought it was actually pretty funny. My best guess is that this movie had a weak script and the director, cast and crew all made up for it. BTW, I loved Andy Griffith as the bad guy.

If you notice that they get story credit and than share screenplay credit with 2 other writers. That means that they wrote the first draft of the screenplay and than the other guys rewrote them.

This was an alright spoof by no means was it as good as Nielsons other work but this was a darnsight better than J&A's other stuff. If J&A made their films more like this they may be more liked and their films wouldnt be known as a complete waste of time to watch.

reply

I think the problem "J&A" have (besides not being Proft, Weiss, Zucker, Abrahams or Zucker) is that they just try to pump out as many movies as possible, spoofing as many movies as possible as formulaicly as possible.
