Stephen King

Maybe because it was set in Maine, and maybe because everybody in the film sported that heavy Bahston accent, or maybe just because it seemed like a movie about redemption and prison; I just felt like Stephen King could've done a wonderful adaptation of this screenplay. This is not to take anything away from the man who did it; I found the film to be wondefully touching.

The Maine and Boston accent are soo completly different it isn't even funny.

That wasn't a Boston accent...not by a long shot.

Hate to break it to whoever started this thread, but this movie was not filmed in Maine, but Vermont...

reply

LOL and I DEFINATLY haven't heard anyone from Vermont that sounds like that.

The film may have been filmed in Vermont, but it was still definitely set in Maine. And as for screenplay adaptation? The director wrote this himself, it wasn't an adaptation, so how could Stephen King have done it better? And to someone in IL, the Boston accent does have a similarity to what was used in the movie.

P.S. If you like this movie, there is a wonderful musical for the stage based on it (though they significantly changed the ending as you might expect from a musical). But it is still amazing.

Eh, it might be a slight similarity but i'm tellin ya, there IS a big difference.

Heh - for that matter, i haven't heard anybody from actual Gilead sound like that either. I live 5 minutes away. =P
