A Discovery

Thanks to a comment (by Sol) posted here I went to look for this movie and finally found a VHS copy. I've been haunted by that ending ever since. Soooooooooo beuatiful!
The film bears some moments of extraordinary beauty and marvelous performances but somehow doesn't succeed completely. I'm not sure how to explain those flashbacks - never seen before or since in a Donovan movie.

The film, however, is worthy of serious study. Just look at the faces of Johnny Whitworth, Nastassia Kinski and Gabriel Byrne.
