Oh fishy fishy fishy foo

Good question - I had to think about this one. I figure it was a representation/foreshadowing of Alfredo, being that Alfredo was with her when she "went into" the maritime painting. He indicated later that he also suffered from the Stendhal Syndrome, so maybe he went in with her and was the fish monster. Also, it foreshadows her interactions with him later.



"Great, just jump all over me, why don't you?
What about the nine kids I DIDN'T lose this week?"

Didn't Alfredo's wife say he had disgusting fish breath or something?

Maybe I'm wrong but I think the fish saved her from drowning. You see the fish give her a breath and she then swims to the surface.
I don't think the fish is in any way symbolic of Alfredo.
