Good to see Dolph improve

Dolph is in his prime during Silent Trigger, but I didn't like this at all.

It's good to see how his improvements and experimental directing have been able to put garbage like this on the bottom of the pile. Think I will just go ahead and say that Gina Bellman ruined this completely. There was nothing cheesy or even remotely exciting about watching that trainwreck of an actress try to assist Dolph. This should have been a 1 man job and only 1 man. None of this emotional garbage which simply doesn't suit the style.

The ending was hilarious though I admit and a few one liners throughout brought it back from hell.

This is one of Dolph's best movies.

I think it is really the sets, the soundtrack, the future noir atmosphere that elevates this movie way above standard action movie fare.

Among all the common action B-movie stars, I always thought Dolph Lundgren tried to, both in his own films and the choice of other films he acts in, do something more than just what's usual. Compare for example to Steven Seagal; almost every single one of his movies has the exact same plot and formula, with only minor differences to hide the fact that it's always more or less the same premise and script.

Silent Trigger, in contrast, is very special. I have never seen a film that even remotely resembled it. Sure it's got its regular action fare, but what really makes me like it is the stuff before and after—the backstory and flashbacks, the rather unusual characters, the ending, and how most of the surrounding stuff is left up to the imagination of each viewer. I'm talking about when or where this film takes place, the state of the world they live in, and who they really are.

It just stays with me, and I love to dive into and wonder about this world. This is real noir mystery, folks. Presenting a grim world of which you're just dying to know more about. Personally, this is one of my favourite action flicks ever. And I love my dystopian stuff, I rank this almost as high as the genre classics the likes of Blade Runner, The 13th Floor, Gattaca...

The people who worked on this really put all their love into creating a fascinating universe.

Too bad SILENT TRIGGER (and MEN OF WAR) came out 5 years too late for Dolph, they would have found their audience and probably have been more successful, unfortunately the mid-nineties started the downfall of his theatrical career...

But why the downfall then? If anything, a film like Silent Trigger should have worked against his fading into obscurity. 16 years now, and I still think it's one of the best titles in B-movie action ever. Either I'm in a clear minority in liking it so much, or it's really a lack of promotion that kept it an underdog. I guess your point could be a reason for the latter.

Still, I think this is one of those cases where even if not a lot of people heard about or even liked it very much, everyone involved with it can be proud to have been a part of it.

And it deserves a sequel!

Granted, I was working overnight and dozing off while watching this movie due to being tired and sick. I did not notice anything suggesting this world was a different world than "present day".

I thought they were just mercenaries.

Maybe I missed something, but I didn't think that was apparent. Which to me, means they did not put all their heart into creating a fascinating universe.

I still enjoyed this movie though. a 6/10 for me as a decent b-action flick.
