Who does this version of the song?

The "Save the last dance for me" song in the film is the best I've ever heard, but I've no idea who the recording artist was. Can someone help me please?

I have the original CD soundtrack but except for a few words and names, everything is in Japanese. But I think all of the music was done by a combination of professional musicians put together by Tokuma Japan Communications, the producers of the Soundtrack. I liked the vocal version of "Shall We Dance" but unfortunately that name was also listed in Japanese.

The singer of the song is Taeko Onuki. She debuted as a member of a pop band called Sugar Babe in 1975 and has released 48 albums! since 1976. Some of her albums were produced by Ryuichi Sakamoto, who won Academy Awards for The Last Emperor.

I purchased mine on-line from CD Universe, in Japan about two years ago. It was a little pricey but all worth it to me. Unfortunately, their site shows it is already out of print.

You might still find one listed on Ebay.

Good luck.
