She certainly does not need to be adopted, she has made a successful life on her own. But there is no reason why she could not be adopted if all parties wanted it to happen.
In earlier times, adoption of adults was very common, usually for inheritance reasons or to stop certain rights or privileges lapsing.
It was not unknown for people to adopt those older than themselves.
Perhaps now everything is out in the open, Maurice and Monica will adopt? His assistant Jane would like him for a dad! share
