There was no beer... no beer

I love this movie. To this day, I've only met one other person who has ever seen it and he's my roommate. Please... all you One-Eye Jimmy freaks out there, come out and play!

I think you might be thinking of a different movie. This one was shot in Brooklyn, NY. Red Hook, actually.

hey i got this film also. it is so random and my favourite part is at the start when joe head is talking about his grandfather and the yuppy. a totally great film, not a great story line, but some good actors and some brilliant lines.

Finally!!!! Other people who love this film! I stopped checking in here because it was so depressing!!! When the heck WILL they put this on DVD? I have been dying to get a hold of a copy it's been so long since I've seen it! I can't even find a VHS copy! It's so freakin' great! I always assumed that The Big Lebowski borrowed heavily from this classic, more of an homage than a rip off though. Especially with using some of the cast. It really is a shame it's so hard to find! It's so freakin' funny! Just reading "There was no beer...no beer" I'm breaking out in hysterical laughter as I'm typing this! "And no cable!" LMFAO!!!!! Okay I'm back...still laughing...though! LOL! This is my favorite comedy of all time! We should bug the DVD people with a petition or something. I have no idea what is taking them so long. There are a lot of famous people in it, albeit independent movie people but still.

If I had a nickel for every cigarette your mom smoked, I'd be dead.

If you want a DVD, then you should probably petition Cabin Fever Entertainment. I think they're the ones who have the rights.

I still have my pre-viewed VHS copy from when I worked at Blockbuster.
-Hey boss, this movie hasn't rented in six months and the last person to rent it was me, before I worked here. Can I buy it?
One of the only good things to have come from that time in my life.

Hey I just got lucky and was able to purchase a VHS copy off of Amazon for $1.99 plus shipping! YAY!!! I can't wait to show my friends! I tried to buy it before with no such luck. Glad to get such a sweet deal!

Joe Head was a freakin' riot! How could anyone ever rate this movie less than nine stars? I want to see this movie again and again!

My favorite line... "Disco's Dead? Why didn't anyone tell me?"

reply

I own it on DVD.. it's everywhere. lol. Well, maybe cause i'm in UK, it might be more popular here or somthing.. I dunno. Try getting it on amazon. They somtimes have free delivery as well, (On UK Version its free delivery on nearly everything. lol).

"Total F!!king Silence! Two Can Play At That Game!"- Steve Buscemi (Fargo) BIGGEST FAN
"Everyone takes a beating.. Even the mailman" - Ray Liotta (Goodfellas)
"Walk Down The Right Back Alley In Sin City.. And You Can Find Anything.." - Mickey Rourke (Marv, Sin City)

reply

Do not buy this from the UK if you're in the US or Canada. It will not play on your player, despite the fact that it's Region 0. It is PAL, and our players require NTSC.

Trust me, I finally scored one, and damnit, it won't play. Fortunately I have it on VHS.

It is ridiculous that this is not available in the US.

I am a huge fan of this movie. I bought it back in 94 right after it came out never seing it first. I've since watched it 100's of times. My favorite linein the whole movie has come right after Junior's glassess get broken and he utters the line "What am I going to do with your old glasses? These are subscription, man"

great lines, great characters.
"We alomst lost Magoo" is such a funny line that has me laughing now. Someone wrote that in another post, and it took me a second to remember the line, cuz it's said at the end of a scene and we don't actually see Junior say it.
